Wenatchee Marathon...
I have to admit that running a Marathon again was a bit challenging, and it always tests my Spirit to a point that there is no way I can finish without the Lord's help. I can train all I want and be super prepared, but without asking the Lord for help I seriously believe that I would struggle more than I have.
The Wenatchee Marathon was my 4th Marathon in less than 2 years. I have come a long way and it feels great to have made such progress and improvements, specifically with my time. My first Marathon I ran it in 5 hrs and 30 some minutes. This one I ran it in 4 hrs and 43min. That is a huge improvement for me and I give credit to the Lord for blessing me with such great ability and great friends/husband to help me do this. I train slowly because of my knee. I am in it to finish it not to win it.
I have been called crazy a lot lately. Folks ask me why would I put my body thru such torture and agony? I often have replied that it keeps me in shape, it keeps me happy and it makes me feel like I have accomplished something huge in my life, every time. But, I took some time to ponder WHY during this last race and I can tell you now that I run Marathons because I love how much closer I draw to the Lord each time. It has become a spiritual thing for me.
I found myself relying fully on the Lord on this last Marathon. I struggled for over 90min to run during the last miles of the race. I'd been having some ITB (Iliotibial Band) problems for over three weeks. But it was nothing too painful or bad enough to discourage me from running. I iced and stretched after every run and the pain would go away. But, I guess after running for about 14miles straight my ITB just couldn't handle the pounding. So, I began to rely fully on the Lord to help me finish.
I was praying and asking HIM to help me listen to my body and do whatever I needed to finish. I had put in a good time running with Melody the first 15miles or so. So, I knew that I still could beat my time. I felt confident that if I slowed down my pace that it would help and that I would still meet my goal, which was to finish in 4hrs and 45min.
During my last 6 miles I began to limp a bit while I ran. I couldn't put much weight on my left leg, the ITB was very tight and painful. I had runners pass me by that I had passed, cheering me on and motivating me to keep going. I kept a slow pace for about 4 miles, then I said a prayer. I really did not want to stop. I felt an instant burst of energy as this sweet 12 or 13 yr old boy (who was running the 26.2 miles, wow) pass me and said keep going, you are almost there, don't give up! I knew that prayers were being said on my behalf. I felt them and I took that sweet boys motivation as an answer. The Lord knows my thoughts and my heart and He knew that this was important to me, whether it was dumb or not to finish strong, He gave me the WILL and STRENGTH to do so.
So, from an 11:30-12 minute pace (per mile) I began to run a less than a 10min pace. Huge improvement and a Miracle! I finished strong and beat my goal!! The Lord also placed Melody at the Finish line for me to help me. My legs were shaking and my knee was hurting. I was able to lean on her to walk towards a fountain where I was able to soak my legs and knee in the frigid water. I sat with my dear friends (Jony and Melody) and enjoyed their company again. It felt good to have finished and to have had my sweet friends there with me, although I did miss Rob more than anything this time. I was very humbled and felt a lot of gratitude and love towards my Heavenly Father. He spoiled me!
Melody and Jony were amazing. They ran this race with such stamina and determination. I'm honored to be their friend. It is a blessing to know them, to have trained with them. They are an inspiration to me. I'm so proud of them. This was Jony's first Marathon and she ran it in 4hrs 17min. Melody ran it in 4hrs 20min and it was her second Marathon. INCREDIBLE women!!!!!
Thank you Jony and Melody for all of your support and encouragement there. Thank you Rob and my family for putting up with my hours of training. I so appreciate their support and motivation. I am truly blessed! You will all be happy to know that I have actually taken some RECOVERY time (time off from running)- and that my ITB is doing great. I did try to run 4 miles on Friday and I was able to run 3 without any pain. I will be two weeks behind by the time I get back into training for the Seattle Rock N' Roll marathon this June. YES, I am crazy enough to run another one this soon.
The Seattle marathon is my most favorite one so far. I felt great running it last year and I just can't wait to run it again. It was a good experience overall- I experienced NO INJURIES at all!

My Baby Is 6 yrs Old....
I still cannot get over the fact that my little baby girl is growing up. It seems like it was just yesterday that she was in my belly kicking and pushing. I spent 5 days with bad contractions, thinking I was going to go into labor before she decided to come. With my other three, my labors were fast. So I was really nervous about this one. I had to make sure I was at the Hospital and not at home. I had gone thru my whole pregnancy being told and thinking that she was going to have Down Syndrome and so I wanted to make sure we were at the Hospital in case of any major emergency. (It's a 30 minute drive to our local Hospital from our house)
Our sweet neighbors were vigilant and ready to take me in, if Rob was not available. I'm so very thankful for them; especially for Grampie Mark Lambert who passed away three years ago, he had the back of his Explorer set up to deliver my baby. I miss him! I hope I thanked him enough for his kindness and his love...
I experienced a totally different labor with my Sophia. It all started at 10:30pm when my water broke at home. By then I'm thinking I have less than an hour to deliver. After being rushed to the Hospital by our neighbors, I spent another 6 hours before she came. Once I held her in my arms and saw how beautiful she was...I just thanked my Heavenly Father for her, and felt that all I had gone through with her was WORTH it! My heart was FULL!
She has been nothing but a delight in our lives. She brings great joy to everyone who meets her. She is my biggest helper and hard worker. She is so full of love. She is constantly giving away kisses and hugs!! I just LOVE her.
It was an honor to have celebrated her 6th birthday this year. She has become quite the little girl. She didn't ask for much, only to go out to dinner with us and our adopted Grammie across the street. I must say that she has some expensive taste buds. She requested we all go to "Kyoto's" which is a Japanese Hibachi Steakhouse. They cook your food, live, in front of you. She just loved it. The food is also very delicious but a bit pricey. But thank goodness for Rob's ability to get coupons. We got a great deal that helped a lot. It is a place that our whole family loves to eat at, just not as often as we would like!
Thank you for all the birthday wishes from everyone and for the wonderful birthday presents (Grandmas, Aunts and Great-Grandma)

We can't wait to celebrate many more of your birthdays with you. Happy 6th Birthday!

Spring Break...
The kids had their Spring Break last week. We didn't have any big plans but the kids were able to share with us what they wanted to do and we did most everything they suggested. For example Sophia wanted to go swimming at the Aquatic Center, so we did that. Then James wanted to go to the Civic Fields to run around the track, so we did!
Poor Eliza spent her week with an ear infection, so she was very mellow all week and didn't ask for much!
Juliette had fun Spring cleaning. She was delighted to clean out her Winter clothes and put them away. We brought out her Spring and Summer clothes and was wearing shorts most all week. Really cute!
We also enjoyed my Mom. She flew in from Utah and stayed for 5 days. It was so nice to see her after her surgery in February. She is doing very well and is recovering as she should.
She was such a delight to have and such a good sport to just go along with all the things we had planned to do while she was here. It seemed only fair to take her consignment store shopping, heeheeee! We had fun shopping!
During our break we also had a chance to see our good friends the Ferguson's who were in town from Montana for a few days. We enjoyed a picnic at the park with them and some of our other mutual friends.
We also enjoyed a nice visit with the McCall's. Rob babysat kiddos, while the Moms went to see "Jane Eyre" at the movie theatre. It was so much fun! I'm actually reading -well the audio book on my i-Phone, Jane Eyre. It is very interesting. I believe I read it in High school over 20 yrs ago, so I didn't remember anything about it. I'm really enjoying reading/listening to it so far. Thanks Mel for motivating me! Thanks Rob for finding it on audio!
Thank you Mami for coming to visit. We hope you come back soon! We really enjoyed having you.
We'll miss you Fergi's!!! It was so nice to seeing you all again. Don't be strangers and come back soon!

Conference Weekend at the McCall's...
We had a fun Conference weekend with our friends the McCall's.
We had the opportunity to watch conference from my friend's cozy house, with a big screen TV and enjoyed a bunch of yummy foods and snacks, and of course- GREAT COMPANY!
It was better than watching it at home on our computer and 17" screen. We also had a sleep-over. They just moved into this gorgeous house that over looks the ocean and is surrounded by beautiful trails. The sunset and sunrise was just a joy to watch and we enjoyed walks on the trails. The kids liked going o the beach to play. There is so much to discover there and tons of room for the imagination!
THANK YOU Mel for being such a wonderful hostess! I will definitely take you up on making this a tradition!
P.S General Conference was awesome!! I was beyond Edified. I am looking forward to reading/listening to all of it again online! http://lds.org/general-conference/sessions/2011/04?lang=eng

Baby M's Photoshoot...
I love taking pictures of babies. I had so much fun with Baby M. last week. He was the sweetest 4 month old ever. He didn't fuzz or cry. He was just so happy and so darn cute, and so content! I could have gone hours with him. Thanks Mama L. for letting me practice on Baby M.
