In Loving Memory...

Our dear friend Grammie Bessie Lambert passed away last week on the evening of Sept. 21st.  She was 97 years old.  We have fond memories of her and a lot of love.  We are sad to see her go but happy to know of her reunion with many loved ones, including Grampie Mark Lambert.  We all agreed as a family that she gave the best hugs and kisses.  She was soooooo full of love and was always smiling and full of faith.  She was so optimistic and positive about almost everything, at least with whatever we discussed with her she always had something good to say!
She was such a noble woman.  She was always feeding her mind.  The last time I saw her she was reading a book, that she had already read, by a local Bellingham writer.  She thought it would be nice to read it again.  I so appreciated her love for reading.  She always encouraged our kids to read a lot and to also learn to write neatly and legibly.
The cutest thing about her that I love was that she just loved chocolate.  I could always make her day by bringing her some chocolates.  She always delighted in us bringing her such treats.  We are going to miss her dearly.  She left behind a growing family.  The Lambert's are amazing people.  We just love you all!  Thanks for including/involving us so much in your lives!

Here is more about her, written for her funeral program this Friday...

BESSIE EVERTON LAMBERT, FEBRUARY 13, 1913 - SEPTEMBER 21, 2010

Bessie E. Lambert, of Bellingham, age 97, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on Sept. 21, 2010.

She was preceded in death by her son Mark J. Lambert, and seven siblings.

Survivors include; son Norman M. Lambert and wife Barbara McMullen of Fresno, CA, son Kent P. Lambert and wife Ramona of Bellingham, WA, brother Joseph Everton of Bountiful, UT, sister Naomi Christensen of Boise, ID, sister Ruth Gold of Brookings, OR, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The seventh of eleven children, Bessie was born Feb. 13, 1913 in Logan, Utah to Walter M. Everton and Laura Pearl Knowles. She grew up in Logan and while in high school worked as a bookkeeper for her family-owned hardware store.
She attended Utah State University, where she met Carl T. Lambert. The two were married in March, 1934. They moved to Los Angeles, where the first of her three sons, Norman was born.
From LA, they relocated to Fort Collins, CO where they lived for four years. They eventually settled in Visalia, CA in 1943 and had two more sons, Mark and Kent.
Bessie was a homemaker until 1953 when she completed her BA at Fresno State College. She then taught elementary school for 20 years.
After her divorce and retirement from teaching, she moved to Bellingham, WA in 1974.
Bessie’s hobbies included gardening, crocheting and braiding hand-made rugs. She loved to travel and among her most memorable trips were Europe and the Caribbean. She was a skilled calligrapher, created pressed-flower bookmarks featuring calligraphic quotations and worked crossword puzzles diligently. Above all, she enjoyed reading. She read widely and enthusiastically. She was a 30 year member of a local book club called “Booktalkers” and developed meaningful relationships with each member.
For many decades Bessie collected antiques. Her home is elegantly furnished with her treasures, providing an inviting gathering place where she graciously hosted holiday/birthday celebrations.
Her strength and faith contributed to her active, lifelong membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served as Relief Society President, taught in Primary and was Ward Librarian. She leaves a lasting legacy of strong family values and endless love to her family.
The family would like to give thanks to Whatcom Hospice, Visiting Nurse Home Care and Home Attendant Care Providers for the compassionate, daily care provided to Bessie over the last eight months. Also, we are thankful for the members of the LDS church and other friends who visited regularly. You are angels on earth.

To The Great Women In My Life....

Today I had my Visiting Teachers (Melody and Lissa) come over and share with me some wonderful things.  One that stood out the most and just touched my heart was Melody's tender reading of Proverbs 31.  When she was done reading it she told me that this was Me, that the scriptures were talking about and I teared up because I was also thinking the same thing about her and Lissa.  I'm so blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful women.  As I read this again, I was able to think of the hundreds of other women I know and have known through out my life that have served as such a great example of what the scriptures say that a virtuous woman is, that includes my Mom, sisters, Rob's mom and his sisters, our grandmothers, aunts, etc.  Thank you!
P.S  Melody:  Thank you for your sweet friendship, your tender heart, your wisdom and your love for me and my family!  You are an amazing woman to me...
P.S.S  Lissa- Thank you for your great example of perseverance, dedication, devotion and change.  You never cease to amaze me.  You have such strength and faith.  You are extraordinary!

THE PROVERBS
CHAPTER 31
—A virtuous woman is priced above rubies.
1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
2 What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
10 ¶ Who can find a avirtuou woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She ariseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the apoor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Soccer...

Rob was an awesome husband today.  He let me sleep in and took all the girls to their soccer games.  He left before 7:30am...WOW!!!
Thank you Rob, you are truly a blessing in my life.  I was able to get a ton of housework done and shower and then meet Rob and the girls at the Soccer fields for the last game of the day!
Here are the pictures that we all (ELiza. Rob and I) took.

P.S  It was an absolutely Gorgeous day!
P.S.S  Juliette got to be goalie for the second half- she didn't really like it...

What Da?...

Sophia was cleaning out her back pack last night and she pulled out her lunch box to empty out.  She takes everything out except this half un-eaten sandwich.  I waited until she left the room to see what was wrong with it?  It was her sandwich from lunch?  As I opened the sandwich I found that all the turkey meat had been eaten and then the mayonnaise and mustard licked!
She came back into the room and I asked her about her lunch and if she enjoyed it.  She told me she did and that she ate all of it.  I then surprised her with her sandwich and she just laughed and said that she forgot to mention that she didn't like the bread.  So, she took it out of my hands.licked it some more and made a face when I told her to eat it!  Don't worry, I didn't make her eat it, I just wanted to get a reaction!

Look Who Is Growing...

Our chicks are transforming every day, it seems like it to me.  They are getting their feathers and attempting to fly in the coop.  It is so cute to see them fluff up.  They still have some of their baby fur, which is that soft fuzz.  But, they are so much bigger than 2 weeks ago.  Here is the proof...

I Run With Crazy People...What Can I Say?

Mel this is all you fault.  You got my husband to wear girly socks for running group!  But, then you had to match him up with your cuteness...
